Antipasto Squares: The Easiest Party Appetizer!

These Antipasto Squares are a crowd-pleasing party appetizer featuring savory layers of Italian meats, melted provolone, and zesty vegetables baked inside a buttery, golden crescent roll crust.

  • 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup sliced salami
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1 cup diced provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup diced red onion
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and press it into the bottom of the dish, sealing the seams to create a solid base that goes slightly up the sides.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the salami, pepperoni, provolone, green bell pepper, red onion, olives, basil, oregano, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Spread the antipasto mixture evenly over the bottom crust.
  5. Place the remaining crescent roll dough over the filling (flat or in a lattice pattern) and pinch the edges to seal.
  6. Brush the top dough with the beaten egg wash and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  8. Let the dish cool for 10 minutes before slicing into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a cleaner cut, ensure you let the squares rest for at least 10 minutes after baking.
  • If the top crust browns too quickly, cover loosely with aluminum foil for the final minutes of baking.
  • You can customize the filling with ham, banana peppers, or roasted red peppers.
