Baked Cheesesteak Stuffed Bread Loaf Recipe.

A hearty and indulgent Italian bread loaf hollowed out and stuffed with savory sautéed beef, caramelized onions, peppers, and a blend of melted provolone and mozzarella cheeses.

  • 1 large loaf of Italian or French bread
  • 1 pound thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef, season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and cook until browned (3-5 minutes). Remove beef and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté the onion and green bell pepper until tender and caramelized (5-7 minutes).
  4. Return the beef to the skillet, add Worcestershire sauce (and optional mayonnaise), and mix well.
  5. Slice the bread loaf in half lengthwise and hollow out some of the soft interior to create a pocket.
  6. Stuff the beef and vegetable mixture into the bread and top generously with shredded provolone and mozzarella.
  7. Place on the baking sheet, cover loosely with foil, and bake for 20 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and the bread is golden.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes, garnish with parsley, slice, and serve.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use thinly shaved ribeye.
  • You can toast the hollowed-out bread for 2 minutes before stuffing to prevent sogginess.
  • Make sure to pack the filling tightly so the loaf holds its shape when sliced.
