Cheesy Garlic Bread: The Ultimate Easy Recipe.

A classic, crowd-pleasing cheesy garlic bread featuring a buttery garlic spread, melted mozzarella, and savory Parmesan on a toasted loaf of French or Italian bread.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large loaf of French bread or Italian bread
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (or 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, dried parsley, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix until it forms a smooth paste.
  3. Slice the loaf of bread in half lengthwise and place the halves cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Spread the garlic butter mixture generously over each half, covering all edges.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the buttered halves, followed by the grated Parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are golden brown.
  7. Optional: Broil for 1 to 2 minutes for extra crispiness, watching closely to prevent burning.
  8. Let cool for one minute, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use fresh garlic instead of jarred minced garlic.
  • If using salted butter, reduce the added salt to 1/4 teaspoon.
  • Keep a very close eye on the bread if you choose to broil it, as it can go from golden to burnt in seconds.
  • You can add a sprinkle of dried oregano for a more Italian-herb flavor profile.
