Cheesy Turkey Meatball Skillet: Easy 30-Min Meal!

A quick and delicious 30-minute meal featuring tender ground turkey meatballs simmered in savory marinara sauce and topped with melted mozzarella cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian seasoned)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Roll the mixture into meatballs, approximately 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter (about 16-20 meatballs).
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides.
  4. Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs. Bring to a gentle simmer, cover, and cook for 10 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top, cover again, and cook for 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Remove from heat, garnish with fresh basil, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the meat to ensure the meatballs remain tender.
  • Serve over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread for a complete meal.
  • For a lower-carb option, serve over zoodles or spaghetti squash.
