Peanut Butter Cookies: Easy 3-Step Perfect Recipe

A classic, easy-to-make peanut butter cookie recipe featuring a soft center, golden edges, and the traditional crisscross pattern. This recipe uses simple pantry staples to create a rich, nutty treat in minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup creamy or crunchy peanut butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped peanuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well until fully incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the baking soda and salt. Gradually add this to the peanut butter mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in optional chocolate chips or peanuts if desired.
  5. Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded balls of dough onto the baking sheet 2 inches apart. Flatten each ball slightly with a fork in a crisscross pattern.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are golden brown.
  7. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

  • For extra soft cookies, do not overbake; the centers should still look slightly soft when removed from the oven.
  • Use a natural peanut butter that is well-stirred for best results.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
