Korean Ground Beef Bowl: Easy 15-Minute Recipe

A quick and flavorful 15-minute meal featuring savory-sweet glazed ground beef served over a bed of warm rice, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli (optional)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ground beef and cook until browned (5-7 minutes), breaking it up with a spatula. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Add minced garlic and ginger; sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir in soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce coats the beef.
  5. Stir in the chopped green onions and optional steamed broccoli until well combined.
  6. Serve the beef mixture over warm cooked rice and garnish with sesame seeds and extra green onions.

Notes

  • For a leaner option, you can use ground turkey or chicken.
  • Adjust the red pepper flakes to control the spice level.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
  • Ensure the pan is hot before adding the beef to get a good sear.
