Magic Crazy Dough: One Dough, Many Tasty Recipes!

A versatile, multipurpose yeast dough that can be used to make pizza, breadsticks, cinnamon rolls, or flatbreads from a single base recipe.

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 and 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs (like oregano or basil, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Add optional garlic powder and herbs if desired.
  2. Make a well in the center and pour in the warm water and olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 to 7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch the dough down gently to release air.
  6. Use for your chosen recipe: For Pizza, bake at 475°F for 12-15 mins; for Breadsticks, bake at 400°F for 15-20 mins; for Cinnamon Rolls, bake at 350°F for 25-30 mins; for Flatbreads, cook on a hot skillet for 2-3 mins per side.

Notes

  • Ensure the water is not too hot (around 110°F) to avoid killing the yeast.
  • If the dough is too sticky while kneading, add flour 1 tablespoon at a time.
  • This dough can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
