- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 and 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 teaspoon dried herbs (like oregano or basil, optional)
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Add optional garlic powder and herbs if desired.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the warm water and olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 to 7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Punch the dough down gently to release air.
