Oven-Baked BBQ Ribs: Easy Fall-Off-The-Bone Recipe

These Oven-Baked BBQ Ribs are cooked low and slow until they are incredibly tender and fall-off-the-bone. Finished with a sweet and smoky spice rub and a caramelized BBQ glaze, they deliver authentic barbecue flavor right from your kitchen oven.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 racks baby back ribs (about 3 to 4 pounds total)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (homemade or store-bought)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Remove the silver skin (membrane) from the back of the ribs using a paper towel for grip.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Rub the spice mixture evenly over both sides of the ribs, massaging it into the meat.
  5. Place the ribs on a large foil-lined baking sheet and cover tightly with another layer of aluminum foil.
  6. Bake in the oven for 2.5 to 3 hours until tender.
  7. Remove from the oven and discard the top layer of foil. Brush the ribs generously with BBQ sauce.
  8. Increase oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes until the sauce is bubbly and caramelized.
  9. Let the ribs rest for 10 minutes before slicing between the bones.

Notes

  • Removing the membrane (silver skin) is crucial for tenderness and flavor absorption.
  • For extra kick, increase the cayenne pepper or add a dash of hot sauce to your BBQ glaze.
  • Always let the meat rest to ensure the juices redistribute, keeping the ribs moist.
