- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 8 ounces egg noodles
- Salt and pepper to taste
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, onion, milk, egg, salt, pepper, allspice, nutmeg, and parsley. Mix gently until just combined.
- Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls (approximately 20-24 meatballs).
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat with a splash of oil. Brown the meatballs on all sides for 5-7 minutes. Remove meatballs and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 2 minutes until golden brown.
- Gradually pour in beef broth while whisking continuously until the mixture thickens (3-5 minutes).
- Stir in heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
- Return meatballs to the skillet, coat with gravy, and simmer on low for 10 minutes.
- While simmering, cook egg noodles in salted boiling water according to package directions; drain.
- Serve the meatballs and gravy over the cooked noodles and garnish with extra parsley if desired.
Notes
- Do not overmix the meat to ensure the meatballs remain tender.
- If the gravy becomes too thick, add a splash of extra beef broth or water to reach desired consistency.
- For an authentic Swedish touch, serve with a side of lingonberry jam.
