Cinnamon Sugar French Toast Roll-Ups

Cinnamon Sugar French Toast Roll-Ups

These playful roll-ups combine the comforting flavors of cinnamon rolls and French toast into crispy, bite-sized logs with a sweet cinnamon-sugar center. Perfect for kids and adults alike, this dish transforms basic bread into a decadent brunch treat that is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices sandwich bread with crusts removed
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter for frying

Equipment

  • Rolling Pin
  • Two mixing bowls
  • Large Skillet
  • Tongs or spatula

Method

  1. Use a rolling pin to flatten each slice of crustless bread until it is thin and even.
  2. Spread a thin layer of softened butter over one side of each flattened bread slice.
  3. Mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon together in a small bowl.
  4. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture generously over the buttered side of the bread slices.
  5. Roll each slice of bread tightly into a log shape and set them aside.
  6. In a separate bowl whisk together the eggs milk and vanilla extract to create the dipping mixture.
  7. Melt two tablespoons of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  8. Dip each bread roll quickly into the egg mixture ensuring all sides are coated but not soaked through.
  9. Place the rolls in the hot skillet and fry for 2 to 3 minutes per side.
  10. Turn the rolls frequently using tongs until every side is golden brown and slightly crispy.
  11. Remove the rolls from the skillet and serve immediately while they are hot.

Notes

Using fresh soft bread is essential to ensure the slices roll up smoothly without cracking or breaking.
Avoid oversoaking the rolls in the egg mixture to prevent them from becoming soggy and falling apart in the pan.
You can add a thin layer of Nutella or cream cheese before rolling for an extra creamy surprise in the center.
These are best served immediately but can be kept warm in a low oven if you are cooking for a large group.
